I have never been to an auction before, how does it work?
Bidding at an auction is not only exciting, but extremely easy. You may be surprised at how much fun you can have. By following these easy steps you will be on your way to becoming an auction professional in no time.
First and foremost come on in and preview our items every Wednesday night anytime from 4-6:00pm.
Prior to the start of the auction please register in the office and receive your bidding number.
LET THE BIDDING BEGIN!!!!!!!!!! As the auction begins, our runners will bring the merchandise up for sale. If you want to bid on this item hold up your number so the auctioneer can see you. If you are the highest bidder the item will be brought to your seat.
When you have finished bidding on your desired items, please bring your number into the office to check out.
After checking out you can feel free to wrap your items and take them with you. If an item is too large for you to take home that night, please make arrangements with the office to pick up the item at a later date. You will have 48 hours to remove the item from the auction house.
If you ask anyone who has joined us, we have the best food in town!! Our catering is courtesy of Smith's Restaurant. Each and every week they provide wonderful homemade snacks and meals. A full array of items such as:
Our auctioneer is a seasoned professional, and he likes to move things along quickly. Usually our auctions may last anywhere from 2-3 hours. Depending on the type of items and number of lots, time may vary.
If I cannot make it to the auction, can I still bid on an item?
Yes!! There are a few different ways to bid without being in the auction house itself.
If you are able to come into the gallery prior to the event, you may leave a left bid. If you are not familiar with left bidding, here is how it works. Once you have found the items you like, you fill out the appropriate forms and place the highest bid you are willing to pay on the item. While the auction is in progress, the auctioneer will bid for you on the items you have requested. If you win the item we will call you the next day with the winning price. You may then come in to pick up your items.
If you are unable to make it into the gallery, we also take left bids over the phone.
Another option is phone bidding. If you have serious interest in an item, one of our staff members will bid on the item for you. We will call you approximately 5 minutes prior to the item going up for auction. The time will be pre-scheduled. Our staff member will place the bids for you with your consent on the other end of the line.
Kelley Auctions prefers not to do reserves at live auction. We do however make exceptions with our auctioneers approval. If an item mandates a reserve it will be set with the auctioneers approval and there will be a $20 fee.
Here at Kelley Auctions we pride ourselves in always knowing the best area to sell an item. We sell items online as well as live. If you have an item that would fare better in another region or area of the world, we will take that into consideration and present options to you for resale.
